Why DC’s Who’s Who might be the best thing ever (even if it’s decades out of date) part 3: Gil Kane can even make the Atom look cool. The sword sure helps, though. Sword of the Atom was awesome in ways it probably shouldn’t have been, at least if you’re not a Palmer Purist, anyway.

I think Sword of the Atom helped to put the Atom in a lot of our minds back then. He had a few stories here and there during his JLA stint, but SotA, and that beautiful art, gave him spotlight to those of us who only started reading comics in the late 70s/early 80s. If anything, I feel the late 80s Power of the Atom series was more of a blot on his image than SotA. PotA is. So. Bad!
